Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville is opening up about a harrowing financial and physical downward spiral that left her retirement savings completely depleted. In a candid conversation with Fox News Digital, Glanville revealed that she was forced to empty her 401(k) to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical expenses while fighting a series of debilitating health mysteries. Despite having insurance, she claims she was repeatedly told nothing was wrong, leaving her to fund an expensive search for answers on her own.
The road to diagnosis was long and costly, beginning with symptoms including facial paralysis that Glanville believes stemmed from a parasite contracted during a trip to Morocco in 2023. After spending over seventy thousand dollars just to uncover what was happening to her body, she was eventually diagnosed with several severe conditions, including Valley fever, mononucleosis, and highly resistant bacterial infections. Now facing monthly IV treatments that can cost up to six thousand dollars, Glanville says the loss of her financial cushion as she enters her mid-fifties has been terrifying.
This financial pressure has fundamentally changed how Glanville approaches her career. While she once had the luxury of turning down projects, she admits she now feels compelled to say yes to work opportunities both for the income and to prove her resilience. This drive recently led her to join Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, though the experience proved nearly as punishing as her illness. During a helicopter jump challenge, Glanville suffered a concussion, a perforated eardrum, and a cracked rib after hitting the water with immense force.
Despite the trauma of the accident and the lingering stress of calls from medical creditors, Glanville maintains a defiant spirit. Even after being warned by doctors not to fly following her injuries on set, she viewed completing the challenge as a personal triumph. Though battered physically and strained financially, the reality star describes herself as feeling like a badass for conquering the obstacles placed in her path.
